our mission is to demystify the art of DJing and empower aspiring artists with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to take the stage. We are dedicated to providing a solid foundation in the fundamentals of DJing, guiding complete beginners to their first live performance.
By fostering creativity, building technical skills, and encouraging personal expression, we help our students begin to identify and cultivate their unique style, overcome fears, and confidently share their music with the world.
What’s Included in the 8-Week Program:
Module 1: OVERVIEW
High-level overview of software and hardware including Rekordbox, laptop-based and all-in-one controllers, as well as how to ethically source music.
Module 2: Mastering Rekordbox
Dive into music curation, organization, playlists, song structure, and cue points.
Module 3: mixing
Introduction to your controller. Learn the basic functionality of those intimidating knobs and buttons. Practice beat matching and basic mixing techniques.
Module 4: intermediate mixing
More advanced mixing techniques including tempo changes, filters, and transitions between styles of music.
Module 5: Creative Expression
Explore the art of storytelling through your set. 4-part structure of a set, improvisation, and the importance of stage presence and branding.
Module 6: Event Creation
Begin the process of creating your first event. Introduction to Partiful, AI tools, and marketing platforms. Create your first guest list.
Module 7: Final prep
Live practice for your final. Real-time feedback on structure, transitions, loops, and invitations.
Module 8: Celebrate Your Truth
Perform a live set for your peers and mentors, showcasing your growth and unique sound. Reflect on your journey, celebrate your transformation, and step boldly into your DJ experience.

Hannah and Anthony are a powerhouse couple and dynamic house music DJs who light up every space they enter with their energy, passion, and inspiration. Together, they blend their unique talents into a harmonious fusion of music, movement, and empowerment.
Hannah is a somatic embodiment coach and women's empowerment mentor, dedicated to helping others reclaim their confidence and embody their authentic selves. Anthony is a sound and breathwork facilitator, martial artist, and fire spinner, committed to guiding people to connect with their inner strength and creative flow.
As co-creators of Roots DJ Academy, they’ve built a transformative space for aspiring DJs and performers to embrace their unique sound, find their voice, and express themselves authentically through the power of music and performance.
